It is the very land\, water and air that we so often take for granted\, that actually give us the opportunity to lead our lives in the first place. This is why\, in this year\, we want to explore the theme “Symbiosis”. \nSymbiosis\, derived from the Ancient Greek words “syn“\, meaning “together”\, and “vios“\, meaning “life”\, is a reminder of the importance of working with each other instead of against each other. \nWith our growing technological capabilities it is easy to forget just how much we need nature for our inner peace and health. We lose our connection to nature at our own peril. Climate change is not only a consequence of our own greed but a loss of interacting with nature in a way that used to be intrinsic. We all reconnect to this feeling instantly when we are awed by the majestic view from the top of a mountain or when we are humbled by gazing at the horizon across the seemingly infinite ocean. \nThis year we want to focus on honouring and reconnecting with the magic of nature and find a way to live with it in harmony once again. We all know the story that stands for the greatness of human endurance\, strength and ingenuity. The mindset of never giving up and overcoming all adversity and even godly obstacles is the basis of this story\, but its message is relatable to the most current of events. \nWith this theme\, we want to highlight the journey that people embark on in the most difficult and unpredictable of circumstances in hope for a better tomorrow. Whether that journey is literal or emotional\, human life is a series of journeys filled with experiences that shape our identity. The Molyvos International Music Festival (MIMF) brings together some of the greatest international stars and young talents for a three-day celebration of world-class classical music in the beautiful island of Lesbos\, Greece. \nTaking place 19th\, 20th & 21st August\, the festival is founded and led by artistic directors Danae and Kiveli Dörken\, rising star Greek/German pianists from Lesbos who have already significant European careers. Their love for 2 things – music and Molyvos – has spurred the creation of a unique festival that fuses the universal language of classical music with the magical atmosphere and setting of Molyvos\, captivating audiences with the fresh energy and virtuosity of today’s most passionate\, exciting and communicative musicians. \nIn this inaugural year\, the artistic directors have built a fascinating programme around the theme Metamorphoses\, which is “not only our musical theme\, but also the goal of our festival”\, say the sisters. “Each title of our four concerts represent different stages of Metamorphosis: ‘A New Era’\, ‘Spirited Youth’\, ‘Transformation’ and ‘Afterlife’. We chose musical works in which either the composer or the composition itself undergo a certain kind of transformation (for example\, Strauss’ Metamorphosen\, Smetana’s From my Life or Mahler’s 4th Symphony). The works give us an insight into the composers’ thoughts and emotions of the different paths that we can choose to follow.” \nThey go on to explain: “We envisage Metamorphosis not only in music but to become a state of being in Molyvos\, where the village transforms itself into a place of creativity. There is Metamorphosis within the Artist – being engulfed by the unrivalled setting of the festival – and then Metamorphosis within the Listener – internalising and drawing inspiration from music”. \nThe festival will include 3 evening concerts in the entrancing byzantine Molyvos Castle\, as well as several other events such as the Friday lunchtime concert\, the ‘Young People’s Concert’ and engaging ‘Molyvos Musical Moments’ in beautiful surprise-spots around the village. The 2015 artists’ rostrum is impressive and includes today’s leading rising-stars\, such as clarinetist Sebastian Manz\, violinists Caroline Goulding and Hyeyoon Park\, cellists Benedict Klöckner and Danjulo Ishizaka and conductor Joolz Gale\, alongside world famous soloists such as German soprano Marlis Petersen and Greek saxophonist Theodore Kerkezos. \nThe festival is under the auspices of the North Aegean Region and is realized by co-founder and festival development manager\, Dimitris Tryfon a young entrepreneur who originates from Lesbos island. \nMIMF is supported by an advisory board of internationally acclaimed figures\, including the British conductor Sir Roger Norrington and the German pianist/conductor Lars Vogt. \nUtilising the timeless allure of Molyvos\, MIMF provides an ideal environment for experiencing classical music in a delightful village setting. Even at a time of global economic and social crisis\, MIMF demonstrates how music can still inspire\, connect and unite people\, welcoming audiences and musicians from around the world. \nValuable collaborator of the festival is Molyvos Tourism Association “The Other Aegean”. \nThe Festival doesn’t just aim to be Greece’s most prestigious classical music events and Europe’s most idyllic. \nIt also has an important mission to make classical music more accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds in Lesbos through innovative concerts\, informative education projects and interactive children’s workshops. \nThe Molyvos International Music Festival would like to thank the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Athens for its kind support. \nFor more information concerning this year’s programme: \nhttp://www.molyvosfestival.com/main/programme/ \nand for high resolution photographs: \nhttp://www.molyvosfestival.com/main/press/ \n\n  \nΑν\, \nΠολύτιμος συνεργάτης του Φεστιβάλ είναι ο Φορέας Τουρισμού Μολύβου “The Other Aegean”. \nΓια περισσότερες πληροφορίες σχετικά με το φετινό πρόγραμμα: \nhttp://www.molyvosfestival.com/main/programme/ \nκαι για φωτογραφίες υψηλής ανάλυσης: \nhttp://www.molyvosfestival.com/main/press/ URL:https://www.theotheraegean.com/event/1st-molyvos-international-music-festival/ LOCATION:Molyvos Castle\, Molyvos\, Lesvos\, 81108\, Greece CATEGORIES:music ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://www.theotheraegean.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mimf.png END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Athens:20150805T200000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/Athens:20150805T200000 DTSTAMP:20261017T154035 CREATED:20150602T035320Z LAST-MODIFIED:20150602T035320Z UID:1979-1438804800-1438804800@www.theotheraegean.com SUMMARY:SERENADE NIGHT IN THE NEIGHBOURHOODS OF MOLYVOS DESCRIPTION:Organized by The Cultural Association of Traditional Dances “Molyvos” URL:https://www.theotheraegean.com/event/serenade-night-in-the-neighbourhoods-of-molyvos/ LOCATION:Molyvos\, Molyvos\, Lesvos\, 81108\, Greece CATEGORIES:music END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Athens:20150803T200000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/Athens:20150803T200000 DTSTAMP:20261017T154035 CREATED:20150602T035151Z LAST-MODIFIED:20150602T035151Z UID:1978-1438632000-1438632000@www.theotheraegean.com SUMMARY:Part 1: Guitar Recital with Costas Makrigiannakis | Part 2: A Concert presented by the students of The 4th Summer Guitar Academy 'Arion' DESCRIPTION:The Tourism Association of Molyvos in cooperation with The Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation\, also invite you to the Brazillian & Jazz Concert by Greg Dan (guitar) and Angeliki Toumpanakis (vocals)\, a side-event which will take place at The Museum of Industrial Olive-Oil Production of Lesvos in Agia Paraskevi on July 31st\, 2015. It has the power to connect all cultures and all ages. Supporting this effort\, Molyvos Tourism Association\, is organising a piano concert with two award-winning pianists Danae and Kiveli Doerken\, who originate from Molyvos. The concert will take place in Lefkonikos Square\, on the 17th of August and it will be free for the public. \nDanae and Kiveli Doerken spontaneously agreed to give you a foretaste of what will happen next year during the international festival of classical music\, that will premier in the late summer of 2015. \nDanae and Kiveli Doerken (18 and 22 years old) are Greek/German prizewinning pianists\, originated through their Greek mother from Molyvos. They belong to the most distinguished musicians of the future. They are regular guests in distinguished festivals such as the Sommets musicaux de Gstaad\, the Kissinger Sommer and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival. They have performed in most European countries\, China and the USA. \nTheir play is of “extraordinary dynamic variety. It possesses an impressive articulatory power. The suspense is palpable\, the music pulsating”. The press praises them to be “extraordinary emotional\, hands-on – simply genius”. \nThey have also been invited to perform for many well-known personalities like the Dalai Lama and Angela Merkel. \nThe concerts will be moderated\, so the audience will be guided through the works of music. \nThey will perform works by Brahms\, Chopin\, Liszt and Manuel de Falla. \n  URL:https://www.theotheraegean.com/event/piano-recital-by-danae-kiveli-doerken-%ce%ba%ce%bf%ce%bd%cf%83%ce%b5%cf%81%cf%84%ce%bf-%cf%80%ce%b9%ce%b1%ce%bd%ce%bf%cf%85-%ce%b1%cf%80%ce%bf-%cf%84%ce%b9%cf%83-%ce%b4%ce%b1%ce%bd%ce%b1%ce%b7/ LOCATION:Lefkonikou Square\, Molyvos\, Lesvos\, 81108\, Greece CATEGORIES:music END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Athens:20140806T210000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/Athens:20140806T210000 DTSTAMP:20261017T154035 CREATED:20140715T160437Z LAST-MODIFIED:20140717T063018Z UID:1411-1407358800-1407358800@www.theotheraegean.com SUMMARY:REAL AND IMAGINARY STORIES FOR YOUNGER AND OLDER AUDIENCE: A CONCERT FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY | ΑΛΗΘΙΝΕΣ ΚΑΙ ΦΑΝΤΑΣΤΙΚΕΣ ΙΣΤΟΡΙΕΣ ΓΙΑ ΜΙΚΡΟΥΣ ΚΑΙ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥΣ: ΜΙΑ ΣΥΝΑΥΛΙΑ ΓΙΑ ΟΛΗ ΤΗΝ ΟΙΚΟΓΕΝΕΙΑ DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, 6 of August 2014 \nWe invite you to a special night full of theatre and music.
